Johnny Spero

In this uplifting conversation, we talk with Chef Johnny Spero, chef and owner of Reverie Restaurant, and his entire team on how they are re-emerging with resiliency to fight the COVID-19 crisis.

Reverie is a modern New American restaurant in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Born and raised in the small town of Phoenix, Maryland, near the Pennsylvania state line, Chef Spero was instilled with a work ethic at a young age. As triplets, Spero and his siblings were not allowed to get driver’s licenses without becoming employed first. Spero became a busboy at a local bistro, and after a few weeks working the front of house, he made the move to the back of the house—and found his home. Being in a kitchen moved him in a way that school never did. And the rest, as they say, is culinary history.
