Turkey Meatballs Tikka Masala

This slimmed down Indian cuisine swaps fatty lamb for lean ground turkey keeping all the juicy flavor, and slashing the fat and cholesterol.

Turkey Meatballs:

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2
In a large bowl combine all ingredients for the meatball recipe and mix well with your hands to combine.
Step 3
Form into meatballs about 1" in diameter and place on a broiler pan.
Step 4
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes until meatballs are no longer pink in center.
Step 5
When the meatballs are done remove from the oven and place aside for later.

Gravy:

Step 1
Used a medium sized skillet, heat the oil.
Step 2
Add onions and cook until light golden.
Step 3
Add ginger paste and garlic paste.
Step 4
Add tomatoes and cook until it becomes tender.
Step 5
Add garam masala spice and allow to cook for about 5 minutes.
Step 6
Add the oven-cooked meatballs and coat with the gravy. Continue to cook for 10 minutes.
Step 7
Add yogurt, dried thyme and chopped cilantro leaves.

Bulgur Wheat:

Step 1
In a medium size pot, add the bulgur, cinnamon, pinch of salt and lime if you are using. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 25 minutes until all the liquid is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and fold in the tomato and parsley.
Step 2
Serve five turkey meatballs and gravy over top the bulgur wheat.
